Summer is here! The church campus has been active this week with summer camps for Ask Wonder Explore and Lakeview Presbyterian Weekday School happening concurrently. We are also finalizing our first-ever summer worship series in partnership with other NOLA-area Presbyterian churches.
Most importantly though, this Sunday, June 8 is PENTECOST! One of the “high holy days” on the church calendar, Pentecost always comes 50 days after Easter and 10 days after Ascension Day. It commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit and birth of the church. For this special Sunday at LPC, everyone is encouraged to wear red! We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper, the choir will sing, and there will be cake and refreshments after the service in honor of June birthdays (plus the church’s “birthday!”). We will read about the coming of the Holy Spirit in the form of a rushing wind and tongues of flame as described in Acts 2:1-21. My sermon is titled Together in One Place.
