Children's Sunday School Program

Ages 3 - 6th grade

Rotation 4:
The Samaritan Woman

The Samaritan Woman at the Well is an outsider, even in her own community. She already has had five husbands and is living with a man who is not her husband. The women of the town shun her. She is very suspicious of Jesus; he was a Jew and shouldn’t even be there. He starts to talk with her; Jewish men don’t talk to women in public. Everything is wrong in this scene for her, but He offers her living
water. He tells her that it doesn’t matter to God if she is a Samaritan or a Jew, living with a man or not. If she approaches God in spirit and truth, God will be there for her. That is the living water

This is so revolutionary that she realizes that if this is true, the Messiah must surely be coming. Jesus confesses that he is the Messiah. She is the very first person who hears Jesus say those words.

Rotation 4 will include the following Workshops:
Science will show us through experiments how this woman’s life was changed.
During Movies the children will create a newscast to explore the concept of being an outsider and how God can use anyone.
Drama will allow us to explore the Samaritan woman’s feelings about this encounter by using body sox.
The children will recreate the story using KidPix during Computers.

We’re still seeking workshop teachers and shepherds for coming Rotations!

Book- The Gospel of Matthew:  God With Us
Time/Place- Sunday 9:15am / Fellowship hall Classroom

Kerygma's newest study explains with all we have to unite us, we still find ways to create division. It is an age-old question:  do we focus on what sets us apart, or what holds us together?
According to Matthew, the Church is an earthly manifestation of the kingdom of God, and it is comprised of Jesus’ followers who have been called out to live righteously in the world and to serve in the manner of the Christ with deep humility and unfathomable forgiveness.  In Jesus, there is a new community at work for the blessing of the world.  What is it that binds us together?  Jesus - God With Us.
